DACONO, Colo. – Cassidy Hinds will chase her first ‘crown jewel’ win at her home racetrack during Saturday’s 76-lap super late model special at Colorado National Speedway.

The extra-distance event at the three-eighths-mile paved oval, part of the track’s ‘General Air Fourth of July in June’ program, is the first major event for the division this season.

It comes at a good time for Hinds, who has three top-10 finishes in her three races this year at CNS and is looking to improve upon back-to-back 10th-place runs from Twin 40s two weeks ago.

“We’re hoping that the work we’ve put in at the shop to try and figure out some of our handling struggles that we’ve had recently will pay off on the racetrack,” she noted. “Being loose on corner entry and then tight coming out of the turn was something that we battled in both features last time out. If we can get some of those issues smoothed out, I think we’ll have a good car on the long runs.

“I love these longer races; I feel like it’s a great test for drivers and that they suit my driving style really well,” Hinds added. “One skill I feel like I’ve become good at over the years is managing my equipment and being patient until the race and the car come to me, and that’s a lot of what it takes to be successful in a race like the 76 (lapper).

“We’ll see what happens Saturday, but I’m excited for this one and optimistic going in that we’ll be able to improve from where we’ve been.”

Hinds is hoping to recapture some of her super late model momentum from last season, which culminated in a NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Division II track championship at Tucson (Ariz.) Speedway and the Division II Arizona state crown.

A hard crash during Chilly Willy 150 weekend at Tucson in January scuttled her hopes of a successful title defense at the track, but she still has eyes on a potential championship in front of her home fans.

Hinds ranks fifth in the super late model standings at CNS going into Saturday, 33 points back of leader Brett Yackey.

“There’s a long way to go in our season in Colorado, but we’re not going to count ourselves out,” she noted. “Hopefully, we can string some good runs together and start to get some momentum going.

“From there, we’ll see where the points fall for us.”

Hinds would like to thank marketing partners Frontier Restoration, Leary’s Shock Shop, Fort Worth Screen Printing, Commit 2 Fitness, Pineapple Pump Project, MATCO Tools, Puzzle Effects, Buckeye Welding, 5280 Pit Lighting, and the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation for their support of her racing efforts.

General Air Fourth of July in June from Colorado National Speedway streams live Saturday night beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET (6:30 p.m. MT) on Low Budget TV.
