WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Brent Crews cruised to the General Tire Pole Award for Friday afternoon’s General Tire 150 at Watkins Glen Int’l, putting up a time in ARCA Menards Series qualifying that was a half second quicker than the next best driver.
Crews turned in a lap of one minute, 13.105 seconds (120.648 mph) en route to the pole position in the No. 18 JBL Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing.
It’s the fourth career pole for Crews in the national ARCA Menards Series, his third of the season, and his second consecutive in the series after grabbing the pole award last week at Iowa Speedway as well.
Venturini Motorsports’ Alon Day will roll off alongside Crews in his second career ARCA Series start, his first coming earlier in the year at Connecticut’s Lime Rock Park, where he finished third.
Day piloted his No. 25 JSSI Toyota Camry onto the front row with a 1:13.636, five tenths behind Crews but three tenths ahead of teammate Lawless Alan behind him.
Alongside Alan will be 15 year-old Tristan McKee out of Williamsburg, Va., who is making his first career ARCA start with Spire Motorsports in the No. 77 Gainbridge Chevrolet.
Row three consists of Tyler Reif and series regular Isabella Robusto, with row four holding two Chevrolets in ARCA point leader Brenden Queen and Lavar Scott.
Rounding out the top 10 in row five is Kris Wright, who is looking to come back after losing his NASCAR Xfinity Series ride a few weeks ago, and That Moffitt, making his return to Nitro Motorsports.
All 27 drivers who entered the race will take on the 2.45-mile Watkins Glen course, with broadcast coverage at 2 p.m. ET live on FS2, the FOX Sports App, and select affiliates of the Motor Racing Network.
