Bronson Hawkins Charges from 15th to Third After Springfield Raceway Setback
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Sometimes the finishing position only tells part of the story.
For Pure Stock competitor Bronson Hawkins, Saturday night's event at Springfield Raceway showcased both speed and perseverance as the young driver overcame adversity to race from 15th to a third-place finish in the feature event.
The evening began on a high note as Hawkins powered his way to victory in his heat race, putting the team in position for what looked to be a strong night. However, following post-race inspection, the heat race win was disallowed due to a minor spring adjustment that remained from a previous Pro Stock setup.
While the setback could have derailed the evening, Hawkins and his team remained focused on the task at hand.
Forced to start 15th in the feature, Hawkins methodically worked his way through the field, passing competitors throughout the race and showcasing the speed that had been evident all night. By the checkered flag, he had advanced 12 positions to secure an impressive third-place finish.
"The heat race disqualification was disappointing because we had a really fast race car," Hawkins said. "But our team stayed focused, and we were able to come from 15th to third in the feature. That says a lot about the car and the people behind it."
The strong recovery drive continued a season of growth for Hawkins, who has steadily developed his skills on dirt while gaining valuable experience against veteran competition.
Known for his determination and willingness to learn, Hawkins has become a familiar face at tracks throughout the region as he continues pursuing his racing goals while representing his sponsors, family, and supporters with professionalism both on and off the track.
The third-place finish provides valuable momentum heading into the next event and serves as another reminder of the team's potential when everything comes together.
Up next, Hawkins will return to action at Springfield Raceway on June 13 as he looks to build on the speed shown during his charge through the field and continue his climb toward Victory Lane.
