McFadden Going High Limit Racing With Roth

FRESNO, Calif. – James McFadden and Roth Motorsports are pushing their chips to the center of the table for the upcoming sprint car season.

Announced Wednesday, McFadden will become a “High Roller” as he chases the new High Limit Racing championship this year with Roth Motorsports in one of the team’s familiar entries.

McFadden joins a stacked High Limit roster that includes the likes of five-time World of Outlaws champion Brad Sweet, past All Star Circuit of Champions titlist Zeb Wise, and regular national contenders Spencer Bayston, Justin Peck, and Chris Windom.

He’ll be a teammate to Buddy Kofoid, who will chase the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship, under the Roth Motorsports umbrella.

“I am very happy to field two cars at the highest level of sprint car racing, and we are all happy to have James McFadden continue to run with us at Roth Motorsports,” said team owner Dennis Roth. “He has done a great job for us over the course of the previous two seasons and represents us very well, both on and off the track.

“Last year, James and the team were threats to win on any given night, and we look forward to the team being strong again in 2024 as we chase after the High Limit Racing championship,” Roth added. “We are very thankful to have some great partners behind us to allow us to take on such a big challenge.”

Crew chief Brent Ventura will return to guide McFadden through the High Limit campaign, as well as additional races throughout the course of the season, and is looking forward to extending the chemistry he’s built with his driver as the pair tackles the new challenge provided by High Limit Racing.

“James has a never-give-up mentality that I truly admire, and it makes working with him that much more enjoyable, despite what challenges we might be up against on any given night,” Ventura said. “He is an extremely talented driver, he is very smart, and I am excited to build off of the speed we had last year.”

“I am looking forward to another season with Roth Motorsports and working with Brent again,” added McFadden. “Over the last year and a half, we have built a great [working] relationship, and we understand each other really well. That is a massive component [to success] in this sport. I feel the more we race together, the better we get, and we will have to be on our game every night against the talent in the High Limit field.”

McFadden is coming off a breakout season that included seven overall victories, including six wins with the World of Outlaws and a non-sanctioned triumph during the annual Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

The Australian driver’s success came while helping Toyota Racing Development finetune their 410ci sprint car engine package. McFadden and the Roth team will continue with TRD power this season.

“We are thrilled to support James as he takes on the first High Limit national tour,” said Andy Graves, Executive Technical Director, TRD. “James truly embraced our sprint car efforts with a career year in 2023 and helped us achieve marketable success in our first full-time season. We look forward to achieving additional success on track together this year.”

“I am equally as excited to be back working with the team at Toyota and TRD,” McFadden noted. “Brent and I put a lot of work into our engines last year, and I feel like we have a good idea of what they like. The TRD engines are proven winners, they qualify extremely well, and they have become great pieces all around. The support TRD has provided me has been humbling, with engines in Australia as well as our continued relationship in the U.S., and I am very thankful for it.”

This year will mark McFadden’s third straight year as a part of the Roth Motorsports organization.

“Dennis, Teresa, and Jason Roth have been nothing but supportive to me over the past two seasons,” McFadden noted. “I’m excited for our third season together in 2024.”

McFadden will kick off his pursuit of the High Limit Racing championship Feb. 12-13 at Florida’s East Bay Raceway Park. He’ll also contest marquee World of Outlaws-sanctioned events as scheduling permits.
