A Top Five For Cassidy Hinds At Colorado National

DACONO, Colo. – Cassidy Hinds continued a recent surge of momentum with her third straight top-five finish Saturday at Colorado National Speedway.

After back-to-back wins at Tucson (Ariz.) Speedway on June 1, Hinds returned to her home track hopeful of breaking into victory lane in front of a local fanbase.

Though she didn’t reach that threshold, she still improved her finishing position compared to recent runs at the three-eighths-mile paved oval.

Hinds qualified fourth but started second for the 40-lap main after an inversion of the top-five starters. She hung on to a podium position for the first 18 laps before slipping back as far as sixth through the middle stages.

A pass of Mathew Brunker Sr. with two laps left gave her the fifth spot, which she held to the finish. Brett Yackey won the race over his father Bruce, Darren Robertson, Michael Scott, and Hinds.

It may not have been the race she wanted, but Hinds still believes her team is headed in the right direction.

“After struggling the last couple of weeks with finding speed at CNS, we were really hopeful that we had found something this weekend after our wins at Tucson,” noted Hinds. “Unfortunately, we still did not find what we were looking for, but a top five is still a decent night for us. We’re going to work really hard the next couple of weeks to figure out what’s going on at our home track, so we’re more prepared in three weeks.

“With the highest highs come the lowest lows, but we have made progress, even if it doesn’t always look that way on paper,” she added. “I just have to keep telling myself that things will get better, and we’ll get everything figured out, because I want to win in front of the home crowd really badly.”

Hinds’ racing efforts are made possible by marketing partners Frontier Restoration, Leary’s Shock Shop, Fort Worth Screen Printing, Commit 2 Fitness, Pineapple Pump Project, MATCO Tools, Puzzle Effects, Buckeye Welding, 5280 Pit Lighting, and the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.

Hinds’ next race is June 29 at Colorado National Speedway.
