Reaume Tabs Green For Martinsville Truck Series Ride
MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Clayton Green has landed a ride with Reaume Brothers Racing for his final NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start of the season Friday night at Martinsville Speedway.
Green, 27, will drive the No. 22 Royal Vista Inc. Ford F-150 in the Zip ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ 200 at the .526-mile paper clip, making his second career Truck Series appearance and first since North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway in May.
Pedro Lopez will serve as Green’s crew chief for the penultimate Truck Series race on the calendar, which will be the Marble Falls, Texas’ driver’s debut at the shortest track in NASCAR.
“It’s a privilege to be able to be back in the Truck Series this weekend at Martinsville and I’m extremely grateful to Josh and everyone at Reaume Brothers Racing for giving me the opportunity to drive for them,” Green noted. “We made some really positive connections this summer that helped us get all he right pieces in place to make this deal happen, and I’m really excited because I love racing at historic racetracks … so to be able to say that my first two truck races were at North Wilkesboro and Martinsville truly checks that box in every sense of the description.
“Being at a short track, I feel like I’ll have a bit of an advantage because I’ve been racing a pro late model this year and my background is in short track racing, so it should only help me get comfortable quickly given that we only have about 20 minutes of practice before qualifying and the race,” Green continued. “I’ve spent some time with the team in North Carolina leading up to the weekend, so hopefully we can jell quickly and get in a place where we can go out and race solidly Friday night.”
Much like his experience at North Wilkesboro, when he drove the No. 04 for Roper Racing, Green hopes to keep the fenders clean and gain respect – while also overachieving if he’s in a position to do so.
“We don’t want to affect any of the playoff drivers’ races, but we also want to go out and earn the strongest finish possible for our team along the way,” he said. “Obviously, racing at Martinsville means that there’s probably going to be some beating and banging, but we’ll do our best to stay out of as much chaos as we can and see what that gets us at the end of 200 laps.”
Green would like to thank Royal Vista Inc., Race Face Brand Development, and the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation for their support of his racing efforts.
Broadcast coverage of Friday’s Zip ‘Buy Now, Pay Later’ 200 at Martinsville is slated for 6 p.m. ET, live on FS1, the Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
About Clayton Green
Clayton Green is a pro late model racer with the goal of transitioning into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, having already debuted in the Truck Series in May of 2024 at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway.
A second-generation driver who grew up watching his father race USRS trucks, Green began driving kid karts in Central Texas at six years old, quickly racking up wins before discovering Bandoleros during a trip to Texas Motor Speedway.
Following the INEX ladder system, Green progressed through both Bandolero and Legend car divisions, becoming the youngest driver at that time to win the Bandolero Outlaw National Finals, as well as numerous other track titles along the way. He was also named Driver of the Year at TMS in 2015, as voted by his peers.
Since then, Green has spent time competing in various premier pro late model events, as well as with the asphalt Modifieds of Mayhem Series, and in the former NASCAR K&N Pro Series (now the ARCA Menards Series East and West). He's a two-time top-five finisher in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series regional point standings and also ranked fifth in the 2022 Modifieds of Mayhem championship chase. All the while, he's done so with his own family-run team.
Green achieved a long-awaited dream in May by making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut with Texas-based Roper Racing and has eyes on contesting the full Truck Series schedule in 2025.
Through the summer and fall, Green will race selected pro late model events between Mobile (Ala.) Int'l Speedway and Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla., and he'll also race during Five Flags' prestigious Snowball Derby week in December.
Away from the racetrack, Green is a supporter of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation's efforts in the fight to end pediatric cancer, as well as an avid military history buff.
