Albright Tabbed To Drive Spencer Motorsports Sprinter
PLACERVILLE, Calif. – Dakota Albright is set for a new challenge this year, as he’s been tabbed to drive the Rick Spencer-owned No. 34 winged 360ci sprint car.
The opportunity comes after the Waterford, Calif., driver made a name for himself in the Bay Cities Racing Ass’n in recent years. Now, he’ll join Spencer Motorsports to go sprint car racing for the first time.
“Growing up around racing, it has always been my dream to race a sprint car,’ Albright said. “Attending races at San Jose Speedway regularly when I was younger, as well as catching races at other tracks it has always been a goal of mine to race on the same tracks as some of my childhood heroes.
“I am extremely thankful for the opportunity I have this year with Rick Spencer and his Spencer Motorsports team, as well as crew chief Dan Lind.”
While he will be a rookie in sprint car racing, Albright is no stranger to motorsports and no stranger to Placerville Speedway, where the team will set their primary focus.
As one of the dominant forces in BCRA Lightning Sprint competition, Albright has amassed more than 20 feature event wins with the series, as well as series championships in 2021 and 2023.
During last year’s championship season, Albright parked in Placerville victory lane four times.
With the Northern California season still more than a month away from kicking off, Albright and Spencer Motorsports are still finalizing a specific schedule beyond Placerville Speedway.
“It has been great to get to work with everyone with the team in such short time,” Albright noted. “When we mounted my seat Rick and Kathy Spencer, and Dan (Lind) made me feel like I was right at home. Having known Rick and his family for 15 years and chatting with them each time we have raced at the same track, this is a cool experience to now race with them as I take on this new challenge.
“I am excited to get started in just a few weeks.”
Albright and Spencer Motorsports will have partner support from Thompson’s Family of Dealerships, Sacramento Battery, Morgan Precision Roofing, Nor Cal Gun Vault, Quality Telecom Consultants, Johnson and Matos CPA’s, Romey’s Window Cleaning, Angel’s Heavy Haul, AMSOIL, King Racing Products, NGK Spark Plugs, CSI Shocks, Oval Chassis Research, and Casey White Cosmetic Tattoos this year.
Albright’s sprint car campaign at Placerville Speedway begins with the track’s season opener March 23.
