LEBANON, Tenn. – Anthony Alfredo and Young’s Motorsports are focused on rallying from a disappointing end to their Charlotte Motor Speedway race weekend and renewing their push toward the NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs.

That push starts with Saturday’s Tennessee Lottery 250 at Nashville Superspeedway, a track where Alfredo has exhibited solid speed in recent visits.

In three prior starts at the mile-and-a-third concrete oval, the Ridgefield, Conn., native boasts two top-20 finishes, including a track-best 18th-place finish a year ago for Our Motorsports.

With four straight top 15s prior to their Charlotte setback, Alfredo and company believe they are still in prime position to capitalize on their recent momentum and continue climbing up the point standings.

“I am excited about Nashville Superspeedway because it seems like we have hit on a few things recently that have allowed us to bring very competitive speed to the track lately,” noted Alfredo. “Nashville Superspeedway has been a really fun track over the past couple of years, and honestly, some of the races have been a bit chaotic.

“I think track position and survival will be key.”

The setback in question came during a green-flag pit stop in the final stage of the BetMGM 300, when Alfredo came down for service from 12th place but suffered a broken clutch when trying to leave pit road, leading to a major loss of track position before the team could get the car re-fired.

It dropped Alfredo to 34th, two laps down to the leaders, but the 25-year-old stayed in the game and – though he was never able to get back to the lead lap – was able to gain several positions thanks to attrition for others in the closing laps and overtime.

Alfredo ended up 26th, salvaging what he could and minimizing the damage to his team’s recent gains.

He only lost one position in the regular season standings and still sits less than 100 points out of a playoff berth with 13 races still to go until the playoffs.

“We are in a tight points battle and have a few more positions we need to make up and ultimately hold [onto] through the season,” he noted. “Charlotte was certainly a setback, but if we keep bringing the speed we have recently, we will be able to accomplish great things.”

How has Alfredo been preparing for a return to Xfinity Series night racing?

“Watching film and training hard in the gym is a regular protocol for me,” he explained. “The team and I have been discussing some strategy for how we should approach each stage and ultimately put ourselves in a position for execution at the end.

“I have to add that I love night racing! As a fan growing up, I always thought night racing was more exciting, with higher intensity,” Alfredo continued. “As a driver, I still feel the same way about it and I’m looking forward to the opportunity ahead of us this weekend.”

Broadcast coverage of the Tennessee Lottery 250 from the Music City is slated for Saturday night, May 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET, live on The CW, the Performance Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
