Austin Hill To Run Select Cup Races With RCR
WELCOME, N.C. – NASCAR Xfinity Series standout Austin Hill will have a chance to return to the top level of stock car racing with Richard Childress Racing in multiple races this season.
Announced Friday ahead of the Martinsville (Va.) Speedway race weekend, Hill will pilot the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro on a part-time basis in the NASCAR Cup Series, starting with the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas Motor Speedway on April 14.
United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental company and a longtime supporter of Hill’s racing efforts, will sponsor Hill’s limited Cup Series schedule.
“United Rentals has supported me throughout all of the key moments of my racing career so far, which makes their involvement in my upcoming NASCAR Cup Series starts for Richard Childress Racing that much more special,” said Hill, a 29-year-old native of Winston, Ga., who currently competes full time in the Xfinity Series for RCR.
Hill is an eight-time winner in Xfinity Series competition, including the first two races of this year and three consecutive season-opening victories at Daytona. He has 33 top-five and 55 top-10 finishes in 87 starts, as well as four poles and last year’s regular season championship, on his Xfinity Series resume.
He made his Cup Series debut with RCR in 2022 at Michigan Int’l Speedway, and Hill’s career-best finish to date at the premier level came last August in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona (Fla.) Int’l Speedway, when he placed 14th for family-owned Beard Motorsports – which has a technical alliance with RCR.
“I’m happy to have another opportunity to race in the Cup Series for RCR. The amount of success that we’ve been able to accomplish together in the Xfinity Series makes me excited for this slate of races,” noted Hill. “It’s not going to be easy, competing against the best drivers on Sundays, but I’m thankful to Richard, everyone at RCR, and United Rentals for allowing this Cup Series schedule to come to life.
“Racing a Next Gen Chevrolet at a mile-and-a-half [track] will be a new challenge, but one that I’m looking forward to.”
With an integrated network of more than 1,500 rental locations in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, United Rentals provides general, aerial, and specialty rentals to a customer base that includes construction and industrial companies, utilities, municipalities, and homeowners.
“We are excited to support Richard Childress Racing and Austin Hill in the NASCAR Cup Series.” said Craig Schmidt, vice president of national accounts for United Rentals. “We have a great partnership with Austin and RCR and look forward to supporting them and giving our customers an unforgettable experience.”
United Rentals has been with Hill for his entire Xfinity Series tenure with RCR. This season marks the group’s third year of partnership together, though United Rentals has sponsored Hill’s motorsports endeavors for nearly a decade.
A highlight moment came in February, when Hill drove his United Rentals-sponsored Chevrolet to victory lane at Daytona in the United Rentals 300, marking a huge day for the Stamford, Conn.-based company.
“We’re proud to represent a great brand like United Rentals, and to be a part of their efforts to aid Austin in achieving success at the next level,” said Torrey Galida, president of RCR. “United Rentals is a long-time supporter of our sport and they have done a superb job of using their relationship with Austin to achieve their business goals from an on-site activation and hosting standpoint.”
Broadcast coverage of the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas Motor Speedway is slated for Sunday, April 14 at 3:30 p.m. ET, live on FS1, the Performance Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
