Blown Tire Puts Honeycutt Out Of Action At Martinsville
MARTINSVILLE, Va. – A blown right-front tire with 38 laps left ended Kaden Honeycutt’s night at Martinsville Speedway in the penultimate NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race of the year.
Honeycutt, who qualified ninth at the .526-mile paper clip and earned points in both stages, lost track position on his lone pit stop of the night during the second stage break and could never fully recover.
Though he fought to get back toward the top 10 and was contending with the likes of three-time series champion Matt Crafton and sprint car ace Corey Day, Honeycutt was running 13th when the right front let go and sent him into the wall in turn two.
The damage to Honeycutt’s No. 45 Moore’s Venture Foods Chevrolet Silverado RST was enough to put him behind the wall and out of action after 162 laps.
It left him with a disheartening 33rd-place finish after hopes of a possible top 10 throughout the race.
“Just an unfortunate way to end a good night for us. We had decent speed all night, but just couldn’t do anything to prevent the right front tire from going down,” said Honeycutt. “I wish I could have caught it sooner, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. I’m thankful to all of these No. 45 guys for bringing me a fast truck tonight and to Moore's Venture Foods for their support.
“We have one more race to end the year with another good run, and that is everyone’s goal for next week at Phoenix before we get ready for the championship chase in 2025.”
With one race remaining in the Truck Series season, Honeycutt ranks 20th in points despite missing nine races. He has two top fives and five top 10s in 13 starts.
Honeycutt and Niece Motorsports will wrap up the 2024 Truck Series season at Arizona’s Phoenix Raceway during the season-ending Craftsman 150 at the one-mile desert oval.
Broadcast coverage is slated for Friday night, Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. ET, live on FS1, the Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
