Carolina Carports Backs Mayer & JR Motorsports
MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Sam Mayer and JR Motorsports have added Carolina Carports, which specializes in manufacturing and installing residential and commercial steel buildings, as a primary sponsor for three NASCAR Xfinity Series races this season.
Announced Wednesday, Carolina Carports will kick off its association with Mayer and JRM during the season-opening United Rentals 300 at Daytona (Fla.) Int’l Speedway on Feb. 17.
The brand’s red-and-black colors will return to the side of Mayer’s No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro at Texas Motor Speedway on April 13 and during the Xfinity Series’ regular season finale at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on Sept. 20.
During the 30 races Carolina Carports is not featured in the primary position, the company will serve as an associate sponsor of Mayer and the No. 1 Chevrolet team.
“Carolina Carports is a family business much like our own,” said JR Motorsports CEO Kelley Earnhardt Miller. “Meeting Adela (Herrera) and her team, it's clear she has built her company on quality and excellence, and that makes Carolina Carports a great fit for Sam and the No. 1 team.”
“Carolina Carports is pleased to announce our new partnership with the JRM team,” added Herrera, the owner and CEO of Carolina Carports. “With more than 25 years leading in the metal building industry, we've consistently provided top-quality materials throughout our seven division locations. Teaming up with one of the great names in racing is a testament to our commitment to excellence. We look forward to the positive impact this partnership will bring to both industries.”
Mayer enters his third full season in the Xfinity Series fresh off a four-win campaign that led him to a Championship 4 appearance and a career-best third place finish in the point standings last year.
The 20-year-old from Franklin, Wis., has 25 top-five and 44 top-10 finishes in the Xfinity Series since joining JR Motorsports in June of 2021 at Pennsylvania’s Pocono Raceway, the day after his 18th birthday.
Mayer is still in search of his first top-10 at the World Center of Racing, however, with a best finish at Daytona of 12th earned during his debut at the 2.5-mile superspeedway in August of 2021.
Coverage of the United Rentals 300, the kickoff to the 33-race NASCAR Xfinity Series season, begins Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. ET on FS1, the Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
