HAMPTON, Ga. – Landon Cox returned to the seat of a Bandolero car at Atlanta Motor Speedway and earned a sixth-place finish during round two of the Thursday Thunder Series.

Cox, a nine-year-old rising grassroots racer from nearby Monroe, Ga., made his first Bandolero appearance at AMS since a May 10 start a solid one, qualifying fifth on the track’s quarter-mile Thunder Ring in the Rookie Bandolero division and starting on the third row for the feature event.

Though he faded one position to sixth on the second lap of the main, Cox was able to maintain his track position for the remainder of the event and was just three tenths of a second away from a top-five at the checkered flag.

It was a confidence building race for the young driver, who is beginning to transition into Bandoleros while also contesting his third year of quarter midget racing under the NASCAR Youth Series banner.

“We want to keep Landon racing clean in the Bandolero, and he’s done that so far,” said Cox’s father Danny. “He stayed out of trouble and raced for fifth in the closing laps; he just didn’t quite have enough to get there. We’re proud of what he’s done so far and look to keep building his skillset in these cars.”

Cox would like to thank his parents, Danny and Jessica Cox, as well as Race Face Brand Development, the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, Patrick Christensen, Seth Christensen, Lane Christensen, and Fr8 Racing for their support of his Bandolero efforts.

Supporters of Cox’s quarter midget racing include Ultimate QM, Baker Racing Engines, Max Papis Innovations, and Hot Rods by Buff for their support of his racing endeavors.

The Thursday Thunder Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway continues Wednesday, June 19.
