TULSA, Okla. – Sheldon Creed kicked off his Tulsa Shootout run by sweeping a trio of heat races across two separate classes inside the SageNet Center.

Creed took his No. 74 micro sprint from seventh to first Wednesday to win in non-winged outlaw action, setting himself up nicely for qualifiers in that division, while later going from third to the victory in his A-class winged heat race.

Then on Thursday, he won from the pole in his stock non-wing heat as well, making the Alpine, Calif., native three-for-four in heat race action during the 40th Tulsa Shootout. The only heat he failed to win was in Winged Outlaw.

Combined passing points from heat races and qualifiers in each class set the main event lock-ins and lower main lineups ahead of the championship features on Saturday, which award the coveted Golden Driller trophies that more than 1,700 entrants across six different divisions are seeking.

“Winning your heats at the Tulsa Shootout is what you have to do to put yourself in contention for success, and we’ve done that so far,” Creed noted. “But we also know that it’s only the beginning of the battle and we have to stay on top of things if we want to have a shot at the Drillers come Saturday.”

Action inside the SageNet Center continues through Saturday night, capped off by the ‘Run for the Drillers’ in all six divisions. Every lap throughout the week can be streamed through FloRacing.
