DACONO, Colo. – Cassidy Hinds earned her first super late model podium of the season Saturday with a strong third-place finish at her home track, Colorado National Speedway.

Hinds qualified her No. 3c Friends of Jaclyn Foundation-sponsored Ford fourth at the three-eighths-mile paved oval, then started from the pole in the program’s ‘fast dash’ and finished that race in third during GTI Golf Cars Fairway Fury Night at the Races.

That gave the Arvada, Colo., native the inside of the second row for the 40-lap feature, and Hinds took full advantage when the green flag waved. She worked her way as high as second by lap six and spent the middle portion of the race in the runner-up spot.

Though Hinds lost second to eventual race winner Michael Scott with 14 to go, she still never slipped out of the top three, and her third-place finish marked her best super late model run to date at CNS.

It was a much-needed leap in the right direction for Hinds, who has worked hard over the past year to capture the feel she needs from the race car at her home track. Saturday, she believes she found it.

“I’m so relieved and proud of our race team for their effort and hard work, and it feels great to finally repay that with a great result in front of our home fans,” said Hinds. “After struggling through the beginning of the season, we finally found some speed and were able to finish where we feel we should be running, and there’s few feelings as a driver better than that! The car acted right all day long and never fought us on what we wanted it to do from a handling perspective.

“The race was strong for us; to be up front and finish ahead of drivers like the Yackeys, who are always the main threats in the point standings, is a great feeling and one that we want to duplicate going forward,” she added. “The only way to move is up from here! We’re ready to chase a win now!”

Hinds remains inside the top five in the Colorado National Speedway super late model point standings, within striking distance of the front as she pursues a maiden championship at the facility.

Hinds would like to thank marketing partners Frontier Restoration, Leary’s Shock Shop, Fort Worth Screen Printing, Commit 2 Fitness, Pineapple Pump Project, MATCO Tools, Puzzle Effects, Buckeye Welding, 5280 Pit Lighting, and the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation for their support of her racing efforts.

The next super late model race at Colorado National Speedway is Saturday, July 12 as part of.
