Hinds Hard Charges With Colorado Late Models

DACONO, Colo. – Cassidy Hinds worked her way through the field to a sixth-place finish Saturday night with the Bella Flooring America Super Late Models at Colorado National Speedway.

Top-five speeds during practice had Hinds optimistic early, but a loose gas cap that prevented her from completing a qualifying lap put the Arvada, Colo., racer at the tail of her dash race and gave her a bit of a hole to dig out of.

Hinds rose to the challenge, however, advancing to third by the end of her dash and lining up 10th for the 40-lap feature that followed.

She methodically worked her way to sixth, making her final pass for position with four laps left on longtime veteran and past ARCA Menards Series West champion Chris Eggleston.

It was an effort that made Hinds the super late model hard charger for the night.

“If we had a few more laps, I think I could’ve gotten in the top 5, but unfortunately, we just ran out of laps to achieve that goal,” admitted Hinds. “To work our way through traffic like we did is always a positive, though. After watching the fast dash end with multiple wrecked cars, I’m grateful our early issue put us in the regular dash and not in the fast dash, so we were able to preserve our race car.

“We’ll learn from this like we always do and come back even stronger.’

Hinds’ next race is Saturday, July 27 at Tucson (Ariz.) Speedway as part of the Roasted Rattler event at the three-eighths-mile paved oval. All the action can be streamed via Low Budget TV.

She currently leads the Tucson track point standings by 80 over David Levitt in the super late model class, and most recently swept twin features at the track back on June 1.

“I’m really excited to get back to Tucson after a couple of months away and see if we can keep our momentum going,” Hinds added. “We’re chasing our third win in a row there and excited to build on our point lead as well.”

Hinds’ racing efforts are made possible by marketing partners Frontier Restoration, Leary’s Shock Shop, Fort Worth Screen Printing, Commit 2 Fitness, Pineapple Pump Project, MATCO Tools, Puzzle Effects, Buckeye Welding, 5280 Pit Lighting, and the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
