Hudson Bulger To Race Part Time In CARS Tour

Hudson Bulger

Kevin Powell Speed Motorsports, in association with Hornaday Development, announced that 17-year-old Hudson Bulger will run a limited schedule in the zMAX Cars Tour Late Model Stock division and select other Late Model races in the Southeast.

The Fort Valley, Georgia native has earned multiple wins in Legends Cars and Late Models, as well as Rookie of the Year honors at Montgomery Speedway in 2023, and New Smyrna Speedway in 2024. Oh, and he has only been racing for five years. He is also the only driver other than Bubba Pollard to win the pole for both a Pro and Super Late Model at Speedfest in Cordele, GA.

Kevin Powell, owner of KPSM, said, “We’re very excited to have Hudson as part of the team... When Candice Hornaday and Joey Coulter approached us about Hudson, we felt that, with his talent and work ethic, he would be a great fit here at KPSM.”

Sponsors for the year will include longtime supporter Byron Outdoor Superstore, CB Free Realty, and Antler X-treme, with additional support from Simpson Race Products.

Former NASCAR driver Joey Coulter believes Bulger has the potential to compete at the top level of stock car racing at a national level.

“We’re really looking forward to this season and seeing where things go from here,” Coulter said of the young driver. “Hudson’s got a ton of potential; he’s accomplished a lot in the Late Model world in a short amount of time. His parents and Brett Ragan have picked a great direction they’re going in, like when and where he races and putting him in front of the right people like Candice Hornaday. When I talked to Kevin, I immediately thought of a driver like Hudson and thought they would be a real strong combination against the competition.”

Hornaday Development’s Candice Hornaday also sings Bulger’s praises. “I love this kid! He’s just a good kid, he works hard and has a great personality and attitude towards racing.”

Kevin Powell Speed Motorsports will run a limited zMAX Cars Tour schedule, as well as other various races around the Southeast in Pro and Super Late Models, including the Snowball Derby in December at 5 Flags Speedway.

Longtime racer and crew chief Jason Sarvis will serve as the crew chief on the Late Model Stock portion for KPSM, while Brett Ragan will serve as Bulger’s crew chief on his home team. Both Sarvis and Ragan have worked at the top levels of NASCAR in the past. Chris Dilbeck will continue to serve as Hudson’s driver coach in the Pro and Super Late Model programs.

Kevin Powell Speed Motorsports is a division of Kevin Powell Enterprises. KPSM fields teams on the SMART Modified Tour, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, zMAX Cars Tour, Dirt Late Models, and weekly teams at Bowman Gray Stadium and South Boston Speedway. The team has won the 2023 Bowman Gray Stadium Modified Championship and the Valley Star Credit Union 300 Late Model Stock race at Martinsville Speedway with affiliate Trevor Ward.
