TULSA, Okla. – With arguably one of the lighter fields in terms of big names at the 39th Chili Bowl Nationals powered by NOS Energy Drink, the entry pool for Warren CAT Qualifying Night at Tulsa Expo Raceway is headlined by two-time and defending Tuesday night winner Buddy Kofoid.

Returning to the seat of the familiar No. 71 Mobil 1-branded, Speedway Toyota-powered LynK Chassis for Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports, the Penngrove, Calif., native has Kunz on the wrenches for him this year as he chases his third Chili Bowl prelim night win in the past four years.

Kofoid, 23, has made the Saturday finale in four of his five Chili Bowl appearances and finished second last year after starting from the pole of the championship feature.

Chief among Kofoid’s expected challengers will be five-time World of Outlaws sprint car and inaugural High Limit Racing champion Brad Sweet – driving the No. 3T Spike Chassis for RMS Racing – and Seymour Racing’s Hank Davis, who won the Tuesday preliminary in 2023 in a major upset.

The always fiery Thomas Meseraull is back in the familiar Tim Engler-owned No. 7X, while recent Trans-Am Series SGT class champion Kaylee Bryson links up with past USAC National Midget Series championship team Abacus Racing for her seventh Chili Bowl appearance.

Winged sprint car regulars Brenham Crouch, Garet Williamson, Derek Hagar, and Hunter Schuerenberg; non-winged sprint car ace Kevin Thomas Jr.; multi-time national midget champion Zach Daum; dirt late model star Ricky Thornton Jr.; and big-block dirt modified king Mat Williamson are also racing night two.

NASCAR Cup Series driver Ty Gibbs – the son of hall-of-fame team owner Joe Gibbs – is making his Chili Bowl debut Tuesday night driving for Chad Boat’s CB Industries operation.

Each prelim night broadcast begins at 5 p.m. ET (4 p.m. local), with every lap of Chili Bowl week available to be streamed live with a FloRacing subscription.
