Loudon Strategy Call Nearly Pays Off For Alfredo

LOUDON, N.H. – Anthony Alfredo earned a top-20 finish Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but just missed having his strategy work out for an even stronger result.

Alfredo stayed out long during a 63-lap green-flag run just past halfway, hoping to catch a caution and gain track position as a result. The gamble nearly paid off, but Alfredo ultimately had to come down pit road for fuel and tires on lap 167, with 34 to go in regulation.

Unfortunately, a yellow flag waved the very next lap, after Armani Williams spun on the backstretch.

While it didn’t pin Alfredo a lap down, he did lose all the spots he’d gained just before pitting, when the 25-year-old Ridgefield, Conn., native was running as high as fifth.

It led to a finish of 20th on paper, but Alfredo continues to be encouraged by the gains that Our Motorsports is making both on the racetrack and behind the scenes.

“We had to settle for a top 20 in Loudon, but we were one lap away from a bold strategy call working out that did pay off for others that were in a similar position as we were,” Alfredo explained. “We never quite had the balance right all day, and we just never had the track position that we needed to truly challenge for the finish I think we could have had.

“We’re still pushing forward and making gains, even if the results don’t always show it, and we’ll take that positivity to Nashville and go there hoping to close in on the playoffs.”
