TULSA, Okla. – Cannon McIntosh may not be a Chili Bowl Nationals powered by NOS Energy Drink winner yet, but the arguable king of the event’s Monday night qualifying program leads the entry pool for 2nd Opinion Auto Qualifying Night inside the SageNet Center.

Since the event expanded to five preliminary nights in 2019, McIntosh has won three of the six Monday features held, and he’ll look to add a fourth at the wheel of the No. 71 Mobil 1 Red LynK Chassis for Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports.

McIntosh will have a pair of KKM teammates joining him in the quest for Monday night Chili Bowl glory, with Tanner Carrick – who has won two of the past three Monday prelims – and Ashton Torgerson wheeling the Nos. 98 and 67K, respectively.

Two-time Chili Bowl champion Kyle Larson (2020, ’21) returns in the No. 1K FloRacing/HendrickCars.com Eagle (EMI) Chassis entry for Paul Silva. Larson is the only Chili Bowl champion on Monday’s entry list.

California’s Shane Golobic takes one of Matt Wood Racing’s familiar entries into battle for the opening prelim, while Briggs Danner races for NASCAR star Alex Bowman’s team for the first time and Chad Boat’s CB Industries fields rookie Zach Wigal among the 25 event first-timers competing Monday night.

Other notables include World of Outlaws late model star Nick Hoffman, NASCAR veteran Josh Bilicki, sprint car veterans Cap Henry, Mario Clouser, Bill Balog, Joe B. Miller, and Justin Peck, and ARCA and late model young gun Brent Crews, who will drive for Paul May this year after previously driving for KKM.

Notably, Peck makes his first appearance for owner Phil Rossi, while Balog takes the controls of the Bob East-prepared No. 71G previously campaigned for many years by California’s Damion Gardner.

Monday’s preliminary night card includes heat races, qualifiers, and lower mains before being capped by a 30-lap feature which guarantees the top two finishes a ticket into Saturday night’s grand finale.

The night will also include the annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Invitational Race of Champions, whose 19-car field is headlined by both Larson and McIntosh, as well as five-time Chili Bowl champion Sammy Swindell.

Every lap of Chili Bowl week can be streamed live with a FloRacing subscription.
