Otteau Takes Light World Formula Dirt Points Lead

Clayton Otteau is the new NASCAR Youth Series Light World Formula dirt points leader.
BRODHEADSVILLE, Pa. – A consistent NASCAR Youth Series national weekend at West End Quarter Midget Club propelled Clayton Otteau into the overall point lead in the Light World Formula division.
Otteau finished second in the Light World Formula feature, part of a four-division effort at the East Pennsylvania facility from June 20-22 that also saw the 12-year-old compete in Senior Animal, Senior Honda, and Light 160.
Wins in both the Light World Formula and Senior Animal heat races set Otteau up nicely for those two mains, where the Bernardsville, N.J., young gun excelled during the globally-streamed Sunday finale on FloRacing.
Otteau started and finished a strong second in Light World Formula, with back-to-back runner-up finishes elevating him into the overall dirt point lead for the class, and rallied from two mid-race skirmishes in Senior Animal to come home fourth in a wildly competitive event.
Both Senior Honda and Light 160 ended in B-main action for Otteau, with a broken spindle sidelining him in Senior Honda and a caution-filled Light 160 event ending with the youngster missing the transfer.
It wasn’t everything that he hoped for, but Otteau still recognized the significance of moving into the point lead in perhaps the most competitive division in the entire NASCAR Youth Series lineup.
“To be on top of the Light World Formula standings after West End feels unbelievable, but it’s also the kind of success that we strive for and hope to achieve with our team,” said Otteau. “Two second places is definitely a big deal, but it’s no secret that we really want to get to victory lane in the class as well!
“Senior Animal was a crazy race and finishing fourth after all the adversity we went through is really amazing,” he added. “Honda and Light 160 were tough days for us and we never want to have a class end on a Saturday during race weekend, but we know we’ll learn from everything in those classes and come back even stronger.
“Our program is building momentum this summer, and we’re excited to keep it going.”
Otteau would like to thank Race Face Brand Development, the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, Otteau Group Real Estate, Landstone Finance, Level 10 Development, Esposito Construction, King Willy Studios, Hoffman Pediatric Dentistry, and Laci Photography for their continued support of his racing endeavors.
The next planned race on Otteau’s schedule is Saturday, June 28 at Shellhammer Dirt Track in his Junior Sprint, weather permitting.
About Clayton Otteau
Clayton Otteau is an 12-year-old dirt quarter midget and Junior Sprint racer from Bernardsville, N.J., and first-generation driver with aspirations of climbing the motorsports ladder toward NASCAR competition.
After he began in quarter midgets, he learned that his grandfather drag raced and his great-grandfather competed in a Ford race car on dirt in Pennsylvania, further cementing his love for being behind a steering wheel.
At three years old, Otteau began off-roading in a Power Wheels machine, eventually moving into go-karts by the age of seven. He won his first-ever go-kart race and posted the fastest lap that day, to boot.
He turned eight during his rookie year of quarter midget racing in 2021, graduating to the senior classes the next year in both the Northeast Dirt Series and the USAC.25 Series (now the NASCAR Youth Series).
Otteau is currently competing in four quarter midget classes – Senior Honda, Senior Animal, Light 160, and Light World Formula – in addition to select Junior Sprint races, and away from the racetrack is a supporter of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and its mission to better the lives of children and families affected by pediatric cancer.
