Rain Denies Hinds A Chance To Finish Strong At CNS

DACONO, Colo. – Cassidy Hinds was poised to race for a victory Saturday night at Colorado National Speedway before Mother Nature intervened with other ideas.

Hinds qualified seventh at the three-eighths-mile oval and then piloted her familiar No. 3c super late model to a seventh-place finish in the fast dash held prior to the night’s feature race.

That frustrating preliminary came as a result of contact with another car which led to a bent tie rod and steering issues. A lucky inversion, however, allowed Hinds to line up second for the main after repairs.

Hinds battled veteran Bruce Yackey for the early lead in the extra distance, 76-lap race, but rain began falling just three laps in, bringing the yellow flag out as a result.

Seven caution laps were completed before the skies opened up dramatically, leading to an early cancellation of the remainder of the night’s racing action.

The Arvada, Colo., racer was disappointed in the rain-shortened night, as she believed she had a race car in the feature that was capable of battling up front for the long haul.

“Saturday didn’t give us the results we were looking for, but it could’ve been a whole lot worse,” remarked Hinds. “We have a clean race car, and I felt like we had speed to show before the rains came and prevented us from racing any further. Any time you can battle with a veteran like Bruce Yackey means your team is going in a positive direction, and we hope to continue that going forward.”

Hinds’ racing efforts are made possible by marketing partners Frontier Restoration, Leary’s Shock Shop, Fort Worth Screen Printing, Commit 2 Fitness, Pineapple Pump Project, MATCO Tools, Puzzle Effects, Buckeye Welding, 5280 Pit Lighting, and the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.

Hinds’ next race is July 13 at Colorado National Speedway.
