Renfrew Targeting CARS Tour Pro Late Models
MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Team Hornaday Development has announced that Jimmy Renfrew Jr. will compete full time in the zMAX CARS Pro Late Model Tour this season.
The 20-year-old will pilot the Renfrew Motorsports No. 00 Toyota Camry, with Jeff Labrecque serving as his crew chief.
R&R Race Parts N.H. will support Renfrew during his upcoming CARS Tour pro late model campaign.
“I’m feeling pretty excited to take on a bunch of new tracks. This gives me a lot of opportunities to learn different driving techniques and speeds,” tipped Renfrew. “Something else I am excited about is the new [CARS Tour] ownership group [consisting of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick and Justin Marks]. They have all competed at the professional level and understand how the series should run.”
Renfrew is not the only one eagerly awaiting competition in the CARS Tour. Labrecque also shares that excitement as he and Renfrew gear up for the new season.
“I am grateful to be a part of Jimmy’s next step as he rolls into the CARS Tour’s pro late model season, and I think that it will be a unique challenge. We will often be at new tracks that we have not even stepped foot in before, as well as working with a new car and rules package that we aren’t fully accustomed to yet … all on top of being 1,000 miles from our home race shop in New Hampshire,” Labrecque said. “However, I am confident that if we work hard and utilize all of our resources, most of this “new” stuff will normalize and just like every track in New England, our competitors will know we are there.
“The biggest thing I look forward to this year, like I always do, is going to the track with a driver that is going to be fast,” Labrecque added. “I know that if we do our job and give Jimmy a good piece, we are going to be at the top of the board and be a threat. Our goal is to show up prepared, and to be in contention for the win every week.”
Renfrew, a multi-race winner and champion in New England, also plans to race in the Pro All Stars Series, American Canadian Tour, JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour and CARS Tour West during his busy season.
The first zMAX CARS Pro Late Model Tour event on the East Coast is slated for March 2 at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, N.C.
