SUGAR HILL, Ga. — RSS Racing received high praise on social media Thursday morning when it revealed a pair of Robert Yates Racing throwback paint schemes for Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.

The two retro looks will be fielded in the NASCAR Xfinity Series by brothers Kyle and Ryan Sieg on April 5 in the Sports Clips Haircuts/VFW-Help a Hero 200 at the Track Too Tough to Tame.

The No. 38 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, driven by Tucker, Ga., native Kyle Sieg, will be transformed into newly-inducted NASCAR Hall of Famer Ricky Rudd’s Havoline black-and-dayglow yellow scheme from 2002.

Rudd’s colors reached victory lane that year during the Dodge/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway, and started from the pole at Watkins Glen (N.Y) Int’l.

The No. 28 is recreated in detail thanks to RSS Racing sponsors Night Owl Security and TrekWerx, among others, staying true to the look of the original Ford Taurus.

Kyle Sieg has finished no better than 22nd in six starts at Darlington in the Xfinity Series, but enters 2025 fresh off posting the best average finish of his career – 23rd – In 2024.

Older brother Ryan Sieg will also stick to the Robert Yates Racing theme, revealing a throwback honoring NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Jarrett and his 1999 ‘reverse’ Quality Care/Ford Credit scheme.

Jarrett drove the white-base scheme in the 1999 All-Star Race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, finishing 19th after an accident on lap 11.

The momentum built in recent seasons for Ryan Sieg has been considerable, as he comes off his best Xfinity Series season last year, having earned four top-five finishes and nine top-10s.

Two of those top-five runs came in dramatic fashion, as he settled for second at the line at both Texas Motor Speedway and the fall race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

Both throwback schemes are designed by Ryan Daley Designs, who also provides work for Spire Motorsports and Cope Family Racing.

Broadcast coverage of Darlington’s Sports Clips Haircuts/VFW Help a Hero 200 is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 at 3:30 p.m. ET, live on The CW, the Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
