Stacked Modified Field Set For North Wilkesboro Battle

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. – The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour rolls into the foothills of North Carolina Sunday for the third race of the season at historic North Wilkesboro Speedway.

A stacked entry list of 33 cars has been released for the Faith Fest Evangelical Ministries 150, highlighted by Corey LaJoie driving the No. 77 for Mike Curb. LaJoie is a two-time NASCAR modified winner whose last start with the Tour came in 2023 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he finished seventh.

The son of past NASCAR Busch (now Xfinity) Series champion Randy LaJoie, Corey’s most recent Tour victory came in October of 2022 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

Another notable name outside of the Tour regulars is Conner Jones. The late model staple will be making his NWMT debut in the No. 99 for Jamie Tomaino.

Jones will be pulling triple duty across the weekend, racing the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on Saturday, as well as the zMAX CARS Late Model Stock race on Friday.

They will be competing against the series regulars, including Luke Baldwin, who will also be doing double duty with his third Craftsman Truck Series start of the year. Matt Hirschman (2023) and Justin Bonsignore (2024) are the two former winners at North Wilkesboro who will be racing as well.

Patrick Emerling currently leads the point standings, six points ahead of Ron Silk. Austin Beers is currently third, nine points behind Emerling, with Bonsignore in fourth sitting 10 points back, and Stephen Kopcik in fifth 15 points behind.

Emerling won the season opener at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway and Silk won at Thompson (Conn.) Speedway Motorsports Park.

Fans can watch the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race live on FloRacing at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 18. It’s part of a unique All-Star weekend finale capped off by the NASCAR All-Star Race at 8 p.m. ET on FS1.
