SANDUSKY, Ohio – One of the well-known last names in the modified and NASCAR garages is linking up with the most decorated NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team in history.

ThorSport Racing announced Thursday that Luke Baldwin, the 18-year-old son of longtime crew chief and team owner Tommy Baldwin Jr., has joined the organization and will pilot the team’s No. 66 Ford F-150 in select races this season.

The new partnership kicks off at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on Friday, March 28 with the Long John Silver’s 200. In an interview with FloRacing, Baldwin confirmed he has a three-race deal with ThorSport in the No. 66.

“I’ve signed a three-race deal with ThorSport Racing to go Truck [Series] racing, and I have never been more excited for something in my life,” said Baldwin. “This is something everyone dreams of as a kid and I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to do it, thanks to Duke, Rhonda, and Ali Thorson.

“This will be a whole new ball game in multiple ways, whether it’s the competition, the way the trucks drive, or the atmosphere, but I think the time I’ve spent in the SMART Tour ... and the CARS Tour will definitely help me catch up sooner [rather] than later."

It’s the first step into one of NASCAR’s three national series for the teenaged Baldwin, who earned last year’s SMART Modified Tour championship on the strength of two wins, 10 top five, and 13 top 10 finishes in 14 races driving for Sadler-Stanley Racing.

Baldwin has also raced in the CARS Pro Late Model Tour, the Carolina Pro Late Model Series, CRA JEGS All-Star Tour, Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour, and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, with three top-10 finishes in four NWMT starts, all behind the wheel of his family’s iconic No. 7NY.

While Baldwin is pursuing NWMT rookie-of-the-year honors this season, he’ll also become the latest young gun to test his mettle in the Truck Series, hoping to chart a path toward success on a national stage.

“Let’s do it,” Baldwin said in the team’s announcement video on social media Thursday afternoon.

Baldwin joins full-time teammates Jake Garcia, Matt Crafton, Ty Majeski, and Ben Rhodes as part of ThorSport’s five-truck effort this season. The No. 66 entry has already featured Johnny Sauter and Luke Fenhaus behind the wheel in 2025.

Led by Duke and Rhonda Thorson, ThorSport Racing has won seven Truck Series championships in its long history, including last season’s title with Majeski.

Broadcast coverage of the Long John Silver’s 200 at Martinsville is slated for March 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET, live on FS1, the NASCAR Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

A team spokesperson confirmed to Motorsports Hotspot that additional details about Baldwin’s Truck Series plans with ThorSport Racing will be revealed on Friday.
