Wheatland Adds Winged Sprints To Open Wheel Showdown
WHEATLAND, Mo. – The 13th annual Impact Signs Awnings & Wraps Open Wheel Showdown, May 4 at Lucas Oil Speedway, will include the POWRi Ozark 360 winged sprint cars.
The star-studded evening of open-wheel action also will include the POWRi National and West Midget League as well as the POWRi Wingless Auto Racing (WAR) Sprint League. POWRi will sanction all the competing classes in the same format used in previous editions of the Open Wheel Showdown.
“We’re excited to have plans finalized for the 13th annual Impact Signs Awnings & Wraps Open Wheel Showdown,” said Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton. “Adding the POWRi Ozark 360 winged sprint cars should make for an outstanding show for the fans.”
The pits will open at 4 p.m. for the Open Wheel Showdown’s race day, with grandstands following at 5 p.m., hot laps pushing off at 6:30 p.m., and racing at 7:05 p.m. All times listed are Central Time.
Lucas Oil Speedway's dirt oval plays host to some of the largest and most-popular events in the Midwest, with national and regional touring series appearing frequently including the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, the POWRi National Midget League, the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League, the United States Modified Touring Series, the ASCS National Tour sprint cars, and the Lucas Oil MLRA.
In addition to the track’s special events, the Lucas Oil Speedway Weekly Racing Series features late models, USRA modifieds, USRA stock cars, and USRA B-Mods.
Lucas Oil Speedway’s schedule begins with an Open Test & Tune on Saturday, March 30, from 2-6 p.m.
