SWAINSBORO, Ga. – For the first time in 13 years, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series returns to Swainsboro Raceway with the two-night Battle at the Crossroads, March 21-22.

Friday will showcase a 35-lap, $12,000-to-win feature before the $15,000-to-win, 50 lap headliner on Saturday. Friday’s support divisions will include 602 Late Models and Street Stocks, with Saturday seeing Factory Stocks and Crown Vics join the Outlaws.

With six races in the books, Bobby Pierce is currently leading the World of Outlaws Late Model point standings. But even though he is the series leader, Pierce’s season did not get off to the start he’s used to.

Surprisingly, this was the first year that Pierce did not win during the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park since 2014. Yet even with the slower start to the season for the ‘Smooth Operator’, he took the win last time out at Smoky Mountain Speedway.

Just like Smoky Mountain, this will be Pierce’s first time at the Georgia track.

Just 12 points behind Pierce in the standings, Nick Hoffman is hot on the heels of the No. 32. While he had some bad luck the first few nights at Volusia, Hoffman has started to hit his stride, earning back-to-back third place finishes. Like Pierce, this is Hoffman’s first trip to Swainsboro.

The Outlaws’ return to Swainsboro will also see plenty of hometown Georgia heroes looking for glory. Thomson, Ga., native Cody Overton will battle the tenured World of Outlaws stars as a full-time driver in his home state. Overton already has two Super Late Model wins this year at Screven Motor Speedway and Senoia Raceway, and looks to get his first World of Outlaws win of the year right at home.

From Hampton, Ga., Ashton Winger currently has a seven-race top 10 streak at the track across multiple super late model Events, including a win with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series in 2023.

Cedartown, Ga., native Austin Smith continues his maiden World of Outlaws season heading back to his home state. Smith last competed at the track a decade ago, scoring a top 10 in the Southern Nationals at the track in 2015.

The last time the Outlaws took to Swainsboro was May 5, 2012. Pierce was 15 years old, Tristan Chamberlain was starting kindergarten, and some racers expected to be in the field weren’t even born.

One thing that is still the same, however, is Chris Madden winning World of Outlaws races. ‘Smokey’ won the last series event at Swainsboro more than a decade ago, but other veterans are looking to take the first win back at the track instead of him.

Tim McCreadie is one of those veterans, who finished fourth when Madden won, as well as winning at the track in 2010. He and Darrell Lanigan are the only two drivers to finish in the top five in all three Swainsboro races in World of Outlaws history.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series has seen five different winners in the first six races this season, with only New Mexico’s Garrett Alberson visiting victory lane twice. Ryan Gustin, Devin Moran, Jonathan Davenport, and Pierce have also taken home trophies with the Outlaws thus far in 2025.

For those unable to attend at the racetrack, every lap of the World of Outlaws Late Model campaign can be streamed live with a DIRTvision Fast Pass Subscription.
