SALISBURY, N.C. – Kaden Honeycutt will have support from R.D.C. Shoe Company aboard his No. 45 Niece Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado RST when the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24.

With a special patriotic paint scheme, R.D.C. Shoe Company will be Honeycutt’s anchor partner for the North Carolina Education Lottery 200, joined by multiple other veteran-focused organizations.

Owned by disabled United States Marine Corps veteran Darren Davis, R.D.C. Shoe Company sells patriotic-designed tennis shoes to support Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, as well as foundations that support military heroes.

A Medal of Honor recipient card is placed in every shoebox that tells the story of that recipient.

“R.D.C. Shoe Company is honored to be a part of something that is so important to the Memorial Day mission,” said Davis. “When asked to sponsor a Niece Motorsports truck, we jumped on the opportunity because we believe in Kaden Honeycutt, and then when we found out that Al Niece is a Marine, it all came together. I am a Marine and a former police officer from Roanoke, Va., and knowing that the NASCAR fan base is so patriotic was the perfect fit for us.

“We cannot wait to meet our new NASCAR family in Charlotte on May 24.”

Honeycutt will be making his Truck Series debut at the 1.5-mile Charlotte quad-oval. In three starts this season, the 20-year-old has two top-10 finishes and hasn’t finished outside the top 15.

“I’m excited to have R.D.C. Shoe Company on our Chevrolet at Charlotte for Memorial Day weekend, along with all a lot of other really special military-focused organizations,” said Honeycutt. “Their support means the world, and I’m honored to get on track and am looking forward to making them all proud.”

Alongside R.D.C. Shoe Company, other military charities and initiatives that will race with Honeycutt at Charlotte include Folds of Honor, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, Warrior Rising, Wreaths Across America, Purple Heart Homes, Special Operations Wounded Warriors, and the Woody Williams Foundation.

Folds of Honor, which has provided life-changing scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military members and first responders since 2007, is perhaps one of the most well-known of the military charitable organizations in the NASCAR garage area. The brand served as a co-sponsor of the spring NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway from 2015 to 2022.

The military-focused conglomeration is a natural partnership for the team, as owner Al Niece is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Niece enlisted in 1967, serving for two years in Vietnam with the 3rd Marine Division, Lima Co. 3rd Marine Regiment. During his time in the Corps, Niece rose to the rank of Sergeant.

“As a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, any time we can honor our service members is something that’s near and dear to my heart,” said Niece. “I’m thankful to have R.D.C. Shoe Company and all of these great organizations on board our Chevy for this special race weekend.”

Honeycutt’s No. 45 Silverado will also carry the name of Medal of Honor recipient Corporal Jason Dunham on the truck bed top and the passenger side name rail. Dunham’s family will attend the race.

While serving in Iraq, aware of the imminent danger and without hesitation, Dunham covered a grenade with his helmet and body, bearing the brunt of the explosion and shielding his fellow Marines from the blast.

With that selfless act of bravery in which Dunham was mortally wounded, he saved the lives of at least two others.

Broadcast coverage of the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 is slated for May 24 at 8:30 p.m. ET, live on FS1, the Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
