SHELDON CREED OVERCOMES CHAOTIC DAY AT CORONADO FOR PODIUM FINISH

CORONADO, Calif. — Sheldon Creed and the Haas Factory Team continued their strong 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series championship campaign Saturday afternoon, overcoming one of the wildest races of the season to score a third-place finish in the United Rentals Driven to Serve 250 at Naval Base Coronado.

What began as a historic event quickly turned into a test of patience and survival.

Almost immediately after the green flag waved, the race was halted for more than an hour when a sewer vent cover became dislodged in Turn 5 and struck a competitor’s car, forcing extensive repairs before the event could resume. The delays continued throughout the afternoon as two separate red-flag periods slowed the action, including a lengthy stoppage to repair the wall and catch fencing following a massive 23-car incident that eliminated many of the race’s frontrunners.

Through all the chaos, Creed and the No. 00 Haas Factory Team Chevrolet remained focused.

After racing his way into the top ten early, Creed collected valuable championship points with a seventh-place finish in Stage 1. The Boulder Crest Foundation Chevrolet continued to show speed throughout the afternoon, and despite changing track conditions and multiple restarts, Creed remained a fixture near the front of the field.

A twelfth-place finish in Stage 2 kept the team in contention before the final segment turned into a battle of strategy, execution, and survival. As competitors fell victim to accidents and adversity around him, Creed methodically worked his way forward and positioned himself among the leaders when it mattered most.

When the checkered flag waved, Creed crossed the line in third place, earning his latest podium finish of the season and adding another strong result to an already impressive championship campaign.

The finish allows Creed to maintain fourth place in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series championship standings as the season enters a critical stretch heading into the summer months.

Next up, Creed and the Haas Factory Team head north to California wine country for a return to road course racing at Sonoma Raceway, where the No. 00 team will look to continue building momentum in the championship fight.
