DGM Tabs Honeycutt For Dover Xfinity Race

LAKE WALES, Fla. – For the second time in his young career, Kaden Honeycutt will get an opportunity to step up and race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Honeycutt has landed a ride in DGM Racing’s No. 92 Chevrolet Camaro for the BetRivers 200 at Dover Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 27.

The car is one of two full-time Xfinity Series entries for car owner Mario Gosselin this season, having already featured Josh Bilicki, Nick Leitz, and Dexter Bean behind the wheel through the first nine races.

NASCAR Cup Series regular Ross Chastain was originally planned to drive the No. 92 at Dover, but when it was announced as a Dash 4 Cash event – which full-time Cup Series drivers are barred from competing in – Gosselin had to go to work finding an eligible driver to fill the seat.

A call to Honeycutt led to a deal getting done quickly, as he “wasn’t about to pass up” a chance to return to the second-highest level of stock car racing in the United States.

“I’m so grateful to Mario and Michelle, everyone at DGM for giving me an opportunity to get back in an Xfinity car,” said Honeycutt. “It was kind of funny how it all came together, really. Ross was going to run Dover, but when NASCAR made it a Dash 4 Cash event it turned into a situation of, ‘Well, who can we find to drive the car?’

“I was fortunate to be considered in that conversation, and I obviously said yes really quickly when they reached out to me to get the deal done,” he added. “The goal is to run well and get my feet wet again in the Xfinity Series, and hopefully we can have a clean race Saturday and learn a lot as we go.”

The Delaware Office of Highway Safety, through its “Drive Sober, Arrive Alive” messaging, will sponsor the No. 92 at Dover. Nathan Kennedy will serve as Honeycutt’s crew chief.

Honeycutt’s only prior Xfinity Series race came last April at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, where he finished last in the 38-car field after an engine failure for Mike Harmon Racing.

Saturday will mark the 20-year-old Texan’s first start at the one-mile, high-banked concrete oval known as the Monster Mile, a venue that Honeycutt is eager to finally experience firsthand.

“I’m really excited to get to Dover; it’s one of those tracks that is unlike anything else in NASCAR and it’s great to finally get to race there,” he said. “The Xfinity car, you definitely have a lot more handling issues than the truck and have to hustle it a lot more, but that’s what makes it fun.

“I really wanted to get back in the Xfinity car and see what it’s like with the current [aerodynamic] package with so little skew. I think it will be valuable for me as a driver and I’m looking forward to it.”

Honeycutt is coming off a win in CARS Pro Late Model Tour action at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C., where he led 97 of 100 laps for Mavrick Page Motorsports.

He’s also earned a pair of top-10 finishes in three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series appearances for Niece Motorsports, with a best finish of sixth in February at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway.

Broadcast coverage of Saturday’s BetRivers 200, the 10th race of the NASCAR Xfinity Series season, airs at 1:30 p.m. ET on FS1, the Performance Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Kaden Honeycutt is a 20-year-old, multi-discipline racer from Willow Park, Texas, who competes part-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for Niece Motorsports. Honeycutt has been a persistent worker on his own race vehicles, routinely helping his various teams at the racetrack, as well as in the Niece Motorsports shop through the week. He continues to push up the NASCAR ladder as a prospect to eventually reach the premier NASCAR Cup Series.

Off the racetrack, Honeycutt is passionately involved with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, where he supports children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers. He runs the FOJ logo on both his car and uniform, including a tribute to his adopted child Jackson, who passed away in 2020.
