Kelly Records Another Strong Top-Five Finish at Mobile International Speedway
MOBILE, Ala. (July 19, 2026) – Colton Kelly continued his impressive rookie Pro Late Model season Saturday night at Mobile International Speedway, overcoming an early setback to score another strong top-five finish in the No. 18 Pave America Chevrolet.
Kelly unloaded with speed from the very beginning of the weekend, posting the fastest lap in practice before qualifying fifth for the evening's Pro Late Model feature. A four-car invert was applied to the starting lineup, but the adjustment left Kelly in the fifth starting position, setting the stage for a hard-fought race.
When the green flag dropped, Kelly found himself shuffled back two positions on the opening lap, falling to seventh in the running order. An early caution, however, provided the young Georgia driver with an opportunity to regroup and restart fifth.
Kelly wasted little time making his way back toward the front. By lap three, he had advanced to fourth and settled into the lead pack as the remainder of the race ran caution-free. With passing opportunities limited during the long green-flag stretch, Kelly focused on maintaining pace and protecting valuable championship points.
When the checkered flag waved, Kelly crossed the line in fifth, adding another solid finish to his growing list of accomplishments during the 2026 season.
"The car is in one piece, and we had a good run and solid point day," said Kelly following the race. "We had really good speed all weekend, and even after losing a couple of spots on the opening lap, we were able to fight our way back forward. We'll take the points, keep learning, and get ready to come back next week."
The result continues a season of steady progress for Kelly as he gains experience competing against some of the Southeast's top short-track talent. His ability to recover from adversity and consistently bring home strong finishes has positioned the No. 18 team as a contender each time they unload at the racetrack.
Kelly and the Pave America team will now set their sights on July 25 at Mobile International Speedway, where they will look to build on the speed they showed throughout the weekend and continue their climb in the championship standings.
