AM Racing Tabs Lupton To Close Out Xfinity Season
STATESVILLE, N.C. – AM Racing has tabbed Dylan Lupton to close out the NASCAR Xfinity Series season behind the wheel of the organization’s No. 15 Ford Mustang.
Lupton will make his return to NASCAR’s second-highest level on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in the United Rentals 250, marking his first start since June of 2023, when he competed at both Portland (Ore.) Int’l Raceway and Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway with Alpha Prime Racing.
“I’m excited to join AM Racing for the remainder of the 2024 season,” said Lupton. “We have been talking about the opportunity of working together since last year, and I’m happy to jump in the No. 15 Ford Mustang and get to work for the remaining six races this season.
“Without question, AM Racing has shown speed in their race cars. I’m hoping to bring some experience to the table while building consistency and producing solid race finishes that will give both of us some good momentum for the offseason.”
An alumnus of the NASCAR Next initiative, Lupton will follow up his Talladega appearance with races Oct. 12 at the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway ROVAL, Oct. 19 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, Oct. 26 at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway, Nov. 2 a Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, and Nov. 9 at Arizona’s Phoenix Raceway.
The 30-year-old native of Wilton, Calif., reignited his stock car career last month with an ARCA Menards Series appearance at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International and earned a top-10 finish with Rette Jones Racing.
Lupton has focused his endeavors this year primarily on West Coast late model events and a partial schedule in the Trans-Am Series’ XGT class, but has 60 starts across NASCAR’s three national series, with one top five and four top 10s in the Craftsman Truck Series and an Xfinity Series top 10 to his credit.
“AM Racing is proud to welcome Dylan to the family,” said AM Racing team owner Kevin Cywinski. “I’ve known Dylan for several years now, and I know his commitment to racing when he gets the opportunity to be behind the wheel.
“I believe he can take advantage of six straight races and continue to showcase his ability, while delivering AM Racing some solid finishes to close out the Xfinity Series season.”
Lupton only has one previous Xfinity Series start at the 2.66-mile Talladega oval, but did make a pair of Truck Series starts there with a track-best finish of 12th in 2016 for Young’s Motorsports.
Prior to breaking into the NASCAR national series ranks, Lupton earned two NASCAR K&N Pro Series West (now ARCA Menards Series West) wins and finished second in West Series points in 2014 driving for legendary owner Bob Bruncati’s Sunrise Ford Racing team.
Broadcast coverage of Saturday’s United Rentals 250 from Talladega, marking Lupton’s AM Racing debut, is slated for 4 p.m. ET live on The CW, the Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
