MONROE, Ga. – In a stellar weekend showing, Landon Cox earned seven podium finishes in seven races across two different racecars, highlighted by a Senior Animal quarter-midget victory Saturday.

Cox raced his Bandolero on Friday night during Atlanta Motor Speedway’s regular points program, starting fourth and finishing second in the Rookie Bandolero main event.

He then participated in a double-feature afternoon with the North Georgia Quarter Midget Association Saturday, racing in three separate classes – Senior Honda, Senior Animal, and Light 160.

Cox qualified second for both Senior Honda features, maintaining his track position for a runner-up finish in race one and slipping one spot in race two but still earning a hard-fought third-place result.

His day in Senior Animal was even more impressive. Though Cox again qualified second for both main events and finished second in the first race, he drove to the front of the field and took the checkered flag first in the back half of the twinbill.

Light 160 saw Cox maintain steady throughout, qualifying and finishing second in both races.

It was an incredibly consistent weekend for the nine-year-old who has just begun his Bandolero career, while building on his quarter-midget experience in the senior classes for the first time.

“You can’t ask for much more than what Landon was able to accomplish over the course of two days,” said Cox’s father Danny. “To end up top-three in every race he competed in this past weekend, while racing two different race cars in two very different styles of racing impressed us and many others.

“We’re proud of his continued development and look forward to continuing into the summer stretch.”

Cox would like to thank his parents, Danny and Jessica Cox, as well as Ultimate QM, Baker Racing Engines, Race Face Brand Development, Max Papis Innovations, and Hot Rods by Buff for their support of his racing endeavors.

Cox’s next planned race is Saturday, May 25 with the Dixie Shootout Series, at the Huntsville (Ala.) Quarter Midget Association.
