MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Spire Motorsports will be Corey Day’s home for races in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series this season.

Announced Thursday morning, Day will contest four ARCA races this season in the No. 77 Chevrolet for co-owners Jeff Dickerson and T.J. Puchyr, starting with the season opener at Daytona (Fla.) Int’l Speedway on Feb. 15.

In preparation for that race, Day will test with ARCA at the World Center of Racing on Jan. 9-10.

He’ll also run eight Truck Series races in the No. 7 Silverado RST for Spire Motorsports.

All 12 races, backed by HendrickCars.com, are part of Day’s multi-series driving deal with Hendrick Motorsports that was also revealed Thursday.

“Corey has the raw speed that very few drivers have,” said Dickerson. “What he’s done, at his age, in a sprint car is very impressive and it doesn’t take a critical eye to see that he has the tools to have an amazing career in NASCAR. Stock cars are a different animal than sprint cars, but having Jeff (Gordon) and Kyle (Larson) in his ears is a big advantage. We’ll put Corey in good equipment with a very talented team behind him and do our part to contribute to his success.

“Everyone at Spire Motorsports is looking forward to seeing him on the track at Daytona and in all the events he has planned this year.”

Following Daytona, Day will return to ARCA competition at Phoenix Raceway on March 7, Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway on July 11, and Kansas Speedway on Sept. 26.

His Truck Series slate kicks off at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway on March 14 before heading to Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway on March 21, Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on March 28, Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on April 11, Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway on April 18, Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway on May 30, Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on July 25, and wrapping up at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway on Aug. 30.

Day started his motorsports career on two wheels, racing motorcycles at a young age, but shifted to four wheels at the age of 10 and excelled quickly. In five years of micro sprint racing from 2016-’20, Day racked up numerous accolades, including a Tulsa Shootout Golden Driller in 2018, the 2018 King of California title, and back-to-back track championships at Plaza Park Raceway (‘18-‘19).

By the time the decade turned in 2020, Day was on to midget and 410 sprint car racing on dirt, becoming the youngest winner in USAC National Midget Series history in 2021, earning Chili Bowl Midget Nationals rookie-of-the-year honors in 2022, and adding a NARC-King of the West Sprint Car Series championship and World of Outlaws Gold Cup Race of Champions victory in 2023.

Last season, while racing full time with Kubota High Limit Racing and in select World of Outlaws events, Day won 10 times on dirt over 73 starts. That span included his first triumph at historic Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway in a sprint car and topping the 83rd running of the iconic Turkey Night Grand Prix – the third-oldest automobile race in the United States – in a midget.

All of that diverse experience has led Day toward this point, and he believes his dirt experience will only help him as he continues to learn what it takes to be successful on the blacktop.

“When racing on dirt, you see the small, quarter-mile bullrings and the big, fast half-mile tracks,” explained Day. “Either way, the racing doesn’t change all that much. But on the pavement, you will run on everything, from aggressive short tracks to technical road courses and the beasts that are superspeedways. No matter the racetrack, there are several things I need to learn in these pavement cars to eventually gain that versatility.

“I’m excited to get down to Daytona, run some laps and build a notebook of knowledge about drafting tracks.”

The 2024 season also saw Day transition to the pavement ranks, where he scored a win in his debut weekend of late model stock car racing during the second of twin 40-lap features at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway. He later added four starts each in both the ARCA Menards Series and the Truck Series.

“Those races will help me immensely,” said Day of his early asphalt experiences. “I think having any time on pavement helps me understand the feel of the car and even just how the shows run. When I was preparing for my first ARCA race last year, I had no feel for what to expect when I hit the racetrack. Now I have an idea of what to expect, but there will obviously be some growing pains to feel out.

“I have the baseline, I just need to continue to shape and refine my craft to continue to improve,” Day continued. “I never thought my career would end up here. I only started racing sprint cars three years ago, so it is crazy how fast my career has progressed just in that time.

“I’m super grateful for all the people along the way that believed in me and my abilities to get me to this point.”

Broadcast coverage of Day’s season debut with the ARCA Menards Series at Daytona is slated for Saturday, Feb. 15 at noon ET, live on the FOX broadcast network and the Motor Racing Network.

Day’s first Truck Series start of the year at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway will air Friday night, March 14 at 9 p.m. ET on FS1, the Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
